1. Went to an Asian Vietnamese-Thai food boothin the PATH under the Lonestar restaurant on Front St. And Simcoe.
The lady who served me spoke to me in a dialect of Cantonese serve me a nice portion of glass noodles, mango/cabbage salad and tofu with mushrooms.
It was nice I go back to a place a really eating at when I worked in a building nearby over ten years ago! Amazing that the booth is still there.
2. Chatted with a Portuguese man with a few teeth on the GO Train. He told me about growing up in a small Island of Portugal. He told me that Madeira was a very expensive place to go, but he went there when he was in the army.
In his accented English, he told me the story of overlooking the ocean as a boy, and the fishmen would call out early in the morning when people were still in bed "fresc peche" - I am nt sure if the spelling, but in translation it means "fresh fish. I went along with him imitating how the fishermen would have yelled out.
I am glad to have the opportunity to listen to this man speak passionately about his life in the TRain going home.
3. Playing a made up game with Little S called "what's in this room?"
4. Having a nighttime walk around the block and chatting with my mother-in-love (mother in law). Awesome seeing pictures of her first great grandchild with my brother-in-law.
My mother in law is so inspirational. She takes care of herself, is grateful for all she has, and has a vision board to guide her to reach her goals.
4. In taking spiders out of my room and putting them outside, one little spider played dead. I gently grabbed the little spidy with my index finger and thumb by the web or leg.
This little spidy suddenly went from all legs out running to all legs together and shrinking an falling limp.
"I am so sorry!" I said from my heart. I nudged the limp thing but it didn't move.
So I took another spider out by the leg.
I was hoping that by the time I would come back, the spider would be alive again.
It was still in thy dead form, so I swept it with my broom apologizing at the same time.
Well, that spidy all of a sudden explodes back onto his or her running legs. As my thumb and index finger dove down to grab a leg, it began to play dead again!
It was the most interesting interaction I had has with an arachnid in my life.
Eventually, I managed to take him or her my a led and free them on our running juniper bush outside.
5. Yesterday on the GO train a baby bird had flown into the coach I was in as I walked into the area. I tried to let it jump onto my finger so I could release him or her back outside to freedom.
The little bird fluttered a bit but only to fall several places as a few passengers including myself tried to grab him before the doors would shut.
One lady passenger had just got off at the Pickering Station waited by the doors, took the bird with both her hands. The birdie dell again, and I saw the lady pick up the bird ever so gently stroking its head.
Aww how loving. It was so sweet to see.
I love keeping this blog. It's showing me all the daily newness and amazing mess a day presents; it just takes us to notice.
What has been new for you today?
Lots of love,
K
